Nutrition Fruition: How to learn to enjoy healthy eating
Regardless of your health situation, integrating good nutrition into your routine has many positive benefits, according to Jennifer Moore, nutrition counselor: "Good nutrition is essential for living a healthy, well-balanced life, but it also aids in weight loss and disease prevention and helps manage conditions such as cancer, hypertension and diabetes."
While childhood memories of parents forcing us to eat Brussels sprouts are commonplace, patients working with Jennifer won't be told to simply "grin and bear it" for their health's sake. Before patients ever count the first calorie, Jennifer explores the first of what she calls The Four E's. During the initial evaluation, she reviews existing medical history and talks with the patient to understand the whole person, not only dietary habits. Education on a wide range of topics — from label reading and smart snacking, to correct calorie counting for better disease management — is an important second step. After that, Jennifer works diligently to encourage and empower her patients as they reach for their goals.
